Video: Ranks and Roles
[The video on everyone's padd crackled to life. Clarissa is looking a tad bored, bit also a tad worried.]
Anyone else kinda...feel like it's too quiet?
[they'd defeated the voles, but it really hadn't been much of a battle, more of an evade and counter kind of thing]
Aside from that, does anyone feel like they have the wrong assignment? I mean, I'm in command and I do not like it, but like...I haven't had to actually do anything related to my 'post', so that's kinda nice. I'm not really interested in being in charge of anything or anyone.
[She's master at refusing the call after all]
But like...I feel like we are working together pretty well for the most part? Which also concerns me because...Q is probably bored right now...
[Cosmic entities being bored was generally not good.]

[Though as far as Nita means it, that's code for 'hunt down Q himself and try to pick a fight'.
People have done far more foolish things under duress, after all, as she's well aware.]
Do you think anything would even happen if people swapped outfits or badges?
no subject
[She is squishy and the only thing sharp about her is her mind]
I really don't know, I mean, he hasn't made any appearances in awhile. Maybe he's just gonna leave us alone?
no subject
I've met his type before - they don't like letting people fall into a routine. If we get used to not seeing him, he'll break pattern just to make a point.
[Not that Nita imagined Q somehow above falling into patterns himself.]
Times like this are when the buddy system comes in handy, too.
no subject
[She counts in her head.]
Eleven? That's a lot of square footage per person for a station this size.
no subject
Still easier than trying to keep us all in one room on a regular basis.
[Though, wait-]
I thought we had more people than that here, though? Did we lose someone?
[Or several someones?]
no subject
[Peter...she had really bonded with him and he had vanished so quickly. Tiffany too, the woman had deep secrets, but was kind...she feared even trying to get to know people at this point]
Two people at least, maybe three.
no subject
Damn.
Nita scowled.]
Well, Q did say anyone leaving was being sent home.
[And questioning it was probably the fastest way to have that stop being the case, if she'd gotten an accurate reading on him.]
no subject
[At least most of the systems were automatic...for now]
Is it wrong to hope more qualified people show up?
no subject
If by that you mean the people originally moved out of here, no.
... So long as getting home stays on the table, though, you've definitely got a point.
no subject
[But...maybe some others too, not everyone is interested in going home, some people might prefer life here. Not having to worry about her supposed destiny is kinda nice]
no subject
Might not want to let it get to Q's head, though.
[If they have any say about that, that is.]
no subject
no subject
Right. Well, let's put a bookmark in that thought for now.
Need a hand with anything at the moment? I can say I've gotten a feel for this place by now, at least.
[To the point that she can openly consider teleportation spells to get from one section to another; earlier, she'd been too scared of disturbing anything potentially fragile.]
no subject
I don't really know? I'm a tad bored, maybe a trip to the holosuites is in order?
Have you seen those yet?
[Perhaps a dumb question, but some of the people here didn't like them.]
no subject
Oh, I'm familiar. Haven't played around with them too much, though.
[Much as she was used to the concept, she couldn't help but fight the thought of ending up stuck inside them, and having to solve a problem from inside.
Not something to tackle alone - even if nothing like that ended up happening.]
Why, have you been in them much yet?
no subject
[Not always beating them either, which was pleasant and fun]
The kind I know is not...super common here anymore. They have some strange variations that I'm trying to learn...but I long for the real version.
no subject
Variations by country? Or just time period?
[Though from her tone, it was clear Nita had another question on her mind: What kinds of chess ARE there?]
no subject
[How to describe it, there were other types, like...the other races had their own version.]
There's a version with multiple levels, like...3D chess. It's weird, but kinda cool.
no subject
That is pretty cool, yeah.
And that's just one you've found?
no subject
[Perhaps enough about herself though]
What have you been doing with your time?
no subject
Mostly patrolling. And chatting up the systems.
[Clarissa may or may not get what she means here, but that's all right.]
Just keeping an eye out for any other unwanted visitors, that sort of thing.
[It's no home for her, not remotely, but it does deserve looking after regardless.]
no subject
I hope we took care of the voles for the most part, have you learned anything from chatting with the computers?
no subject
There's lots about this world - in the wider sense, I mean - but in terms of what we can work with, any leverage, I'm not getting anywhere.
[It didn't have any thoughts on Mr-Kidnapper himself, sad to say.]
We'd be better off asking someone local for a starting point, I'd say.
no subject
Thinking we could wrap this one soon?
Can't really fake 'native to this universe', I'm pretty sure.
Unless you're from a place that's already gotten to grips with interstellar travel?
[From the tone of her voice, it's not a mocking notion, much less a tease or taunt.]
Yes, thank you for helping me keep my sanity (There's been STUFF happening)
[How much did her abilities matter here if she hadn't heard from the universe yet? Was she just completely normal now? If so, she didn't particularly mind]
No, my world hasn't gotten that far yet.
Anyway, thanks for your insights!
I figured as much! o7
I can say 'hello', but that doesn't guarantee me anything back, or even just anything I can understand.
My home's pretty much the same.
[Unless you counted the wizardly half of things, anyway.]
See you around!
