He's got a blue science uniform on. ... and he's wearing his tan vest over it, although he has it unzipped a third of the way so the uniform is just visible. Good news, everyone!

I discovered we have an Emergency Medical Hologram while poking about the Infirmary. You won't have to rely on me for your medical needs. I'm a scientist, not that kind of doctor.

[ A pause, then a bit of an embarrassed wince. ]

Ah. Right. My name is César Salazar. It's a pleasure to speak to all of you. ... Is there anyone else in the sciences division?

[Really, everyone knows better than to put a 17 year old in charge of anything, sure, she's smart and can kinda see the future sometimes, but really...where are all the ADULTS[

[ Congratulations, you've found an adult. He pauses for a moment. It's hard to tell on these padds, but she looks... young? Maybe? About his brother's age? ... oof, best not to think about that. ]

[She smiles brightly and tips her head to the side, lifting a shoulder in a laugh.]

Oh, well, there's nothing to really lead yet, we're kinda all working together for the most part. Kinda have to when there are so few of us.

If we did have to rely on your skills, like if the Hologram breaks, would we survive?

Small, naturally self-organizing groups have always fascinating. I've been on them a handful of times. They've generally worked well, so long as the members are good.

[ César winces to hint at how he feels about that.. ]

I would prefer to stick to First Aid only. Depending on the injury, I might be able to wing it, but that'd require me to reverse engineer how to triage and perform the necessary surgeries on the fly. The chances of failure increase exponentially with how complicated the patient's needs end up being, forget plural. Standard illnesses, I might be able to deal with. Inoculations, I can handle... ah. I'd have to write up a whole set of scenarios, to be honest.

So...big words aside, the gist is that we would, but it wouldn't be fun for anyone?

[She plays chess and strategy games, science is not her thing at all.]

I'm glad you found the hologram because, no offense to any of the others, but uh...we need someone more experienced with the medical capabilities of this station and none of us are fluent in the language yet.

It absolutely would not be fun, especially if someone ended up dead.

[ Science is César's thing, which is why he knows he's not qualified for that. ]

Agreed. I can use some of the equipment, but it's going to take time no matter what. And I'm never going to get on the same level as someone properly trained on this equipment.

[Oh, from the look on his face, he didn't really...think it was funny. She didn't either, but her light take on it clearly wasn't the right move this time.]

I can kinda get the computer to do what I want, it's like Siri but more advanced. A lot more advanced.

The emergency medical thing is cool though, how does it work?

[A young-looking brunette appears, a rueful smile on her face. If only she'd come with her own preferred denim jacket; she can envy César's look a little.]

I'm surprised I'm not; I'm on security instead.

I can help with translations, though. And some emergency work.

[Though hopefully there won't be need for, say, blood transfusions in a hurry... at least not before Nita has an idea what kinds of blood she'd even be dealing with.]

Security's always important. I'm pretty poor at fighting, so I'll have to rely on you to protect me. I just don't have the fighting reflexes.

I'd be glad for the help. Do you mean translations beyond what the computers can do?

[Nita can only nod to that, keeping any wry opinions she may have to herself.]

I'm an old hand at shielding, to say the least, so that's one thing I have covered.

I'd have to see what the computers don't translate in the first place, but I can make my own diagrams if needed, too.

I'm in Engineering, but that's Science-adjacent. Can't say I've seen a hologram before. Is it an AI, or just a standard computer system?

I fiddle between both back home. It's supposedly a full blown AI, but we'll have to see.

[Deon blinks behind his glasses and abruptly looks sheepish, both the cat ears and the antennae flicking back.]

I'm a human. Was a human. Still like to think of myself as one, really. It's all in the mindset, or at least that's what I kept telling myself. Properly, I suppose, I'm a manticore. Hm. I don't know if that medical hologram will be able to treat me properly. I might need a vet. [He laughs to himself. He had completely forgotten how absolutely Not Normal he is.]

[ César has to choke back a laugh as those ears flick back. And he definitely laughs at that joke. He'd make the exact same joke. 100%. ]

Oh? Are you? I might be a bit of one, too. ... Finally! We will have to compare our theories and algorithms! What century are you from? I'm from early 21st.

[ DS9 is about ready to lose both its science and engineering departments. ]

[Devin isn't looking at the camera when he replies, clearly focusing on something else on his terminal. There's a hell of a lot to read and he wants to catch up quickly. His tone is neutral, verging on disinterest.]

I'm assigned to Tactical, under Security, but I have enough knowledge to be a field medic as needed. That said, these systems are advanced enough to be able to automate or incredibly simplify what I can do.

[He is actually pleased to hear there's an emergency medical system, however little he shows it.]

Have you found any training programs? It would be wise to have as many people familiar with medical technology as possible.
