Outside Communications | Video
[Clarissa has spent a lot of time familiarizing herself with the station, her room and the technology. but most of all...]
Q said we had a week before the outsiders are able to get communications thought the weird field around the station. What did he call them? Chroniton particles?
Has anyone found much about these "interested parties"?
I know that one of them, the Cardassians used to run this station, they sound unpleasant, but there's a lot to dig through and I haven't cracked the password on the Commander's Logs yet. I'm sure those will tell us a lot more.

No, I haven't, but I can help if you need it. (She looks a bit thoughtful.) Perhaps we should check the old commander's quarters. People generally seem to write things down.
(She had been, she thinks - the longer she's been here, the less certain she is about what she knows and doesn't know. But, she had been obsessed with the internet in her younger days and had wandered in and out of things until she has forced to settle down by the events of her life. Her expression then changes, with a slight eyebrow raise and a slight twinkle in her eye.)
Or I could probably get you past that... if you don't mind it taking some time.
(It's been a long time and the computers on this ship are different. More advanced. But she thinks that she might have a shot. She had been sifting through what she could in the network, she wasn't sure if that's what it could be called, so she wasn't entirely uncomfortable with the setup of the place.)

That would be great! I did manage to find his quarters, but I haven't dug through his things, seems...weird to do that. What if he comes back?
[She purses her lips. There had been a lot of people here, and they had just all vanished. Q wasn't talking about where they had gone either.]
I think hacking might be better than digging through his belonging, but we may have to. I'll send you the map where his room is.
[A little dot on a map of the station with directions from the bar would pop up in on screen.]

(Trinity was more interested in figuring out other things but would understand the need to get things up and running, to buy some time, before looking for the answers to the dozens of questions everyone - including herself - had. It was as good of a place as any to start. Especially if it meant preventing trouble down the road. Information was a good way to get things up and running. They needed to know what was out there too. It looked like she was to be assigned to Security - she probably should know these things, so helping was only a good idea.)
I imagine that we may not have much of a choice in the matter, but if we can avoid it, then fine.
(She supposes that she wouldn't much care for people going through her things either, but she would imagine that a commander if they became aware of the situation - if they somehow weren't already in some way, should understand the emergency that this could be considered even if they disliked it. Or really, sometimes it was just better to ask for forgiveness than permission. But Trinity nods all the same. They can try hacking first.)
I see. I'm not far. Should be a few minutes if I hurry. (She begins walking as she speaks, then she adds,) This may be a difficult question, but what did you make of that message. Other than Q is a pain in the ass.

From what I understand, this is a station called Deep Space Nine and it is a point of interest for...Bajorans, Cardassians, and the Federation. But as to why they are so interested is a bit unclear to me, I'll need to do more digging. I'm sure I can figure it out.
[She set the pad down, wishing for at least the tenth time that she could hear the Universe around her. It would make things so much easier]

(She then shakes her head. Assumptions did nothing, but it feels like typically showing interest in someone or something tended to have a reason. For some reason a nagging voice in the back of her head makes her wonder if it was that simple if it was simple as wanting something for an advantage. But, what would it be? If that was even the case. But...)
But, I wonder if there's more to it than that, or that's entirely off base... I'm here now.(She then disconnects the call as she arrives at the door and it opens before it does she manages a plain.) I'm coming in now.
(She rubs her arms for a moment and takes a look around the office with a stern expression. Everything seemed to be in order, they probably wouldn't even need to mess it up too badly if it came down to desperate measures. Then she takes a seat. Being on her feet for long still feels like it takes a lot out of her and she makes a note to go to the infirmary to see if anyone could take a look at her.)
I can't be sure why I'm thinking like that, but well, I have to wonder if we should prepare for it to be something like that. This Q seems to think of this as a game. He probably wants to see things implode.

Let's see...
[She picked up the other padd again as Tiffany entered, scrolling through]
So...The Cardassians occupied this place when they held Bajor, so perhaps they want it back because they want the planet?
[But what about the others? The Federation and Dominion?]
Who knows...
[Tiffany walked through the door and Clarissa put the padd back down.]
I think that Q thinks this is a game where he is in control. I intend to make him just another player instead of the master...and we start by getting to the bottom of what happened here.
no subject
It might be the reason. It's hard to say without knowing more about that time. That sounds likely, at least. Wouldn't you want it back if you were them and you were here first? Or just from having it at all?
(Perhaps, that's just thinking like a person? Some never liked giving up their toys and eventually toys became something bigger.)
Making Q into just another player? I can't say it's a bad idea. He's the biggest problem we have right now.
(She can't help but feel a smile coming on at the idea. There were a few things she could say about Q. None of them particularly kind. But they would be honest. He had rubbed her the wrong way from the moment he first reached out to them.
She feels slightly amused by the fact it wasn't the kidnapping that managed that.)
Well, let me see what I can do here. Sending someone back down to earth is sometimes a nice bonus.(She takes careful steps over to the computer.) Show me what you need me to crack into.

Here, this is the console. I can see entries, but can't access them.
[She takes a few steps away to allow the woman room to work, looking for pictures, books, or anything that might help them crack the password. She sees a picture of a man, with a boy, perhaps his son? Had they been here together? Would they be missing each other? Should she even care?]
no subject
Hm. (The woman, takes a very cautious seat, gives the screen a pointed look, and then began to get to work. Her eyes fell onto the screen, then onto the...keyboard - though she couldn't be sure what it was called, it looked much different than what she was used to - and then she carefully began to place her fingers onto the "keys". It takes a moment but then she finds a comfortable rhythm for navigating the system and her eyes do not have to look where her fingers are going but instead on the screen. It takes a bit before the first entry is unlocked, she has to assume that it wasn't going to hold much useful information if it was that easy to access, then she moves on to the next.
Eventually, she asks.)
What do you think of this? Being stuck here. On this ship? (She then softly adds,) I... get the feeling that working with some background noise might make this easier. I'm used to a bit of chaos anyway. So, if you don't want to answer that, then just talk, I guess...
no subject
Umm...Stuck here, or stuck where I was, doesn't really make a huge difference to me. I mean, sure I want to go back home, who doesn't but...
[Prophecies didn't matter here, right? She didn't like prophecies, best to leave them behind.]
I don't know, maybe there's an opportunity here?
no subject
(She frowns and her typing becomes more rapid. This entry would take a while to access, but it seemed as if she was making process considering the advanced system. That was a good thing. It meant she wouldn't have to focus on her words as much, the questions might not even come. She wonders if she is saying too much. She had always been guarded and said as little as needed. It was easier to just not speak, to let things be used against you in one way for another. She sighed. She couldn't even admit that whole thing about it sometimes being better to just ask for forgiveness even worked.
She bites her lip for a moment then nods.
She can't argue with the possibility of there being an opportunity of some kind, but it was too early to say for sure.)
I have a family, but since I woke up here... maybe it's just easier to focus on what needs to be done than on thinking about people who should be doing fine. But, it feels funny because I don't... (Her expression slightly changed to slightly pained. Then;)
It would be better without the Q problem, though...
no subject
Yes. Q. The man with the powers of a God, but none of the restraint. Not that she liked the gods in her world either, but at least they kept to themselves for the most part.]
Yeah, I could really do without his ego...It looks like the commander has a son, maybe I can get his name somehow, possible password?
no subject
(Tiffany makes a face after returning to the screen. Then she glances at her and gives her a thoughtful look before continuing.)
Well, I have a few things opened, but I have the feeling that the things we really need are going to take a while... but it might be worth checking these out in case anything useful is in there somewhere. Maybe his son's name or something that could be used as a password. (Then she begins to tap away some more.)
I can send them to you. (After a moment, the first of them should appear on the pad.)
A lot of it looks very... well, routine. We'd need to look into them still. Having a full picture of a normal day can't hurt to have. There might be information on the status of things around here, what needs to be repaired, what we can and can't do... anything helps.

"Hey, Computer," she begins, "Where is Commander Sisko's son?"
"I'm sorry, Jake does not seem to be anywhere on the station." The computer swiftly replies.
"Jake huh," she grins, looking at Tiffany, "Try 'Jake' for the ones you can't get into."
While Tiffany tries that, Clarissa looks at her padd, tapping and scolling through what the woman has unlocked so far.
"Ok, so this was a Bajoran station that was occupied by the Cardassians, and then....The Federation took it over as a base with the permission of the Bajoran people..."
Hmmm. Complicated indeed.
